For more than four decades, Ramboll has designed a comprehensive number of substructures - ranging from conventional 4-legged jackets that support large structures to light-weight concept platforms and simple jacket solutions.
Over the years, our expert knowledge within design, analysis and assessment has brought aging platforms to life. Furthermore, we have developed advanced software solutions for offshore structural analyses, which continuously support international standardisation of jacket structures.
Prolonging operation life for offshore structures
As facilities mature beyond their planned lifetime, lifetime extension projects emerge as part of the operator's responsibility. In those cases, partial or total revamps become necessary to upgrade equipment and technology to current standards. For offshore structures, this means reassessment of structural integrity and inspection planning routines. With comprehensive studies and calculations, the structure can be reinforced to perpetuate the production process for additional years.
Drawing on synergies
More than 65% of the world’s offshore wind turbines rise from foundations designed by Ramboll - making us a world leader within design of offshore foundations. However, sharing knowledge in the offshore wind sector and offshore oil & gas sector goes both ways - contributing to innovation in both sectors.
As offshore wind parks move further out at sea – to environments similar to the ones of gas platforms - the offshore wind industry can greatly benefit from experiences in the oil & gas sector.
Invaluable design software for offshore structures
The Ramboll Offshore Structural Analysis Programs - ROSAP - have been developed over the past 30+ years to meet the ever-increasing demands for structural design, optimisation and lifetime extension of offshore structures.
The program development has been driven in close cooperation with Ramboll's structural experts and a team of analysts and designers. The operators have been actively involved in providing specialist knowledge supported by background studies and documentation.
True digital twin solutions
Recent investments in structural health monitoring systems (SHMS), have given us the ability to generate a true digital twin for our clients. The system is unique in the way that it creates a maintenance schedule based on knowledge of the structure’s current state.
Using information provided from SHMS, our engineers use advanced calculations to determine the actual structural integrity of a platform. High-tech measurements can minimise the cost of recovery from existing oil and gas fields.
